Start with knowing yourself, and then take one small step at a time.
Many of us think that we can't change. You're stuck in old habits, and old ways of being that frustrate and keep you in the same cycle of failure. You want to break out of it but feel trapped.
I am here to tell you that we can all change - you just have to open your mind to the possibility and get started.
Here's my top three tips I've learned about changing our lives both through my own experience and through helping clients achieve their goals:
1. The journey is all about you - don't worry about anyone else out there and what they're doing, what clothes they are wearing or what car they are driving - it's your personal journey with your very personal goals where you and your head space is the only thing that matters. And often, you might look around and think everyone is better off than you - but you never know what the real situation is. Lose the "keeping up with the Jones's" attitude and you'll be better off - financially and emotionally.
2. Building long lasting change is about getting out there and just keeping on going - just be consistent - don't try and change everything over night. Choose three things a week you want to concentrate on achieving and do those three things every day. By breaking things down into small, manageable chunks and being consistent in practicing those changes every day you will be surprised by how much you can achieve.
3. Hang in there and DON'T give up! The amazing thing about change is that, if you just persevere and hang in there, you will start to reap the benefits and you'll never look back. Be prepared for the fact that you are going to come across hurdles - some days you will be completely on the ball, committing and carrying through on all your goals. Other days, you will relapse and go out and splurge on something that wasn't in the budget. But just because you've slipped up doesn't mean you should give up! Recommit and get out there and do more tomorrow.
